Translating Mugler’s visual identity into an intimate spatial experience through light, projection, and controlled atmosphere. I contributed to the early-stage concept and lighting design of Mugler’s fragrance activation in Shanghai, focusing on spatial modelling and visual development for key zones. Several elements I designed were carried into the final built version.
I participated in the Mugler Shanghai pop-up project during the concept and early design development phase. My responsibilities included 3D modeling and rendering of the central cinema space, as well as designing the lighting scheme for the curtain-enclosed stage and the central spotlight.
During this early phase, I designed key spatial elements including the cinema entrance, the stage layout, seating selection, and curtain system—many of which were retained in the final installation. Although I left the project before execution, several of my design contributions were incorporated into the final built version, which was later showcased as part of Mugler’s fragrance activation in Shanghai.

AI-assisted Concept Exploration
During the early design stage, I explored how AI tools could support rapid spatial ideation and concept development.
Spatial: Intimate enclosed space with distributed screens
Material: Matte metal panels, dark flooring, LED surfaces
Lighting: Projection-driven light + controlled spot lighting
Mood: Quiet, cinematic, introspective
A cinematic, enclosed exhibition space where human-scale screens and controlled lighting create an intimate and immersive viewing experience.
Visitors move freely through a field of projections, where light, contrast, and spatial rhythm shape a quiet yet emotionally intense atmosphere.

Early stage high-intensity visual stress-testing
Gemini (reference analysis & concept generation) → AI image generation (Midjourney) → Spatial refinement thinking (Blender-ready concept)
This process allowed for faster iteration and helped define a more realistic spatial direction at an early stage.
